Learning Buddy: How It Works & What to Expect

Learning Buddy is an optional feature that helps IOA learners connect with someone who can offer motivation, accountability, discussion, or skill practice during their learning journey. It’s designed to be simple, supportive, and learner‑led.

Where to Find Learning Buddy

You can access Learning Buddy directly from your IOA Campus menu under Learning Buddy.
It appears alongside My Documents, Certificates, Transcripts, and other account options.

How Learning Buddy Works

1. Submit the short application form
You’ll share your goals, areas of study, and the email address you want to use for the introduction.

2. We review your answers
Our team looks for a suitable match based on goals, study interests and other information provided.

3. If a match is found, we introduce you by email
Both learners receive the same introduction email, including each other’s names and email addresses.

4. You take it from there
Once introduced, communication happens directly between learners. You decide how you’d like to connect and what you want to focus on.

What to Expect

  • Matches are based on compatibility, not guaranteed
  • Most matches are made as soon as possible, depending on availability
  • You choose how often you communicate and what you work on together

Tips for a Great Learning Buddy Experience

  • Start with a friendly introduction
  • Share your goals and preferred communication style
  • Agree on simple expectations (e.g., weekly check‑ins)
  • Keep communication respectful and focused on learning
  • Be patient — everyone learns at a different pace

Safety, Boundaries & Disclaimer
Learning Buddy is a peer‑to‑peer feature. To keep the experience safe and clear, please review the following:

1. IOA’s Role Is Limited to the Introduction

Once the introduction email is sent:

  • IOA does not monitor, review, or participate in conversations
  • IOA does not manage or supervise interactions
  • IOA is not responsible for the content, frequency, or outcome of communication between learners

2. Communication Happens Directly Between Learners

Only the email address you choose to provide in the application form will be shared.
After the introduction:

  • All communication takes place privately between learners
  • You are responsible for what you choose to share
  • Avoid sharing personal, sensitive, or financial information

3. Matches Are Not Guaranteed

We do our best to find a suitable match, but availability varies.

IOA Is Not Responsible for Learner Interactions

Because communication happens outside of IOA’s platform:

  • IOA cannot control or guarantee the behavior of another learner
  • IOA is not liable for any issues or outcomes that arise from the interaction
  • Participation is voluntary and at your discretion

Safety & Conduct

To keep the experience positive:

  • Keep communication respectful and focused on learning
  • Do not share passwords, financial details, or private personal information
  • Report any concerning behavior to our support team

Consent

By submitting the Learning Buddy application form, you confirm that:

  • You consent to IOA sharing the email address you provided with another learner
  • You understand that IOA does not monitor or manage communication after the introduction
  • You accept responsibility for your participation in the interaction
