Can I Legalize or Apostille My Certificate?

International Open Academy is an online training provider and, at this point, is not in a position to directly provide services to assist with visa applications, job placements, apostille, or legalization services.

Requirements for these services differ from country to country and, while we have worked with organizations in this area in the past, many require high fees and extensive administrative processes, which makes it untenable for us to offer such services directly.

What We Can Offer

We recommend that students seeking certificate authentication consider certifications issued by the external accreditation organizations we work with:

  • ICOES (International Council for Online Educational Standards) Recognized for its focus on the quality and standards of online training. A hard copy certificate is available for an additional fee (printing and postage included).
  • CPD (Continuing Professional Development / Continuing Education) These points refer to professional development credits. If you’ve completed a CPD-accredited course, you are eligible to request a CPD certificate (an administration fee applies).

Please note: Neither ICOES nor CPD offer apostille or legalization services directly.

However, in most cases, these certificates—particularly those issued by ICOES—are widely accepted by employers and institutions worldwide, especially in the TESOL/TEFL sector. Many of our students have successfully used them to support job applications and visa processes.

How to Proceed with Apostille or Legalization While we do not provide apostille services, there is a pathway you can follow using your ICOES certificate:

  1. Purchase the ICOES Certificate This is available for all courses, including TESOL/TEFL, and can be ordered through your student dashboard.
  2. Notarization The ICOES certificate can be notarized by any notary public in your country. To support this process, ICOES is willing to verify the authenticity of your certificate and course completion.
    • The notary public (or any person/organization handling the notarization) can contact ICOES directly at  certificates@icoes.org.
    • ICOES will provide a declaration confirming the validity of your certificate and relevant course details.
  3. Apostille Process. Once notarized, the document can be submitted to the appropriate authority in your country for apostille. Note: Embassies and consulates typically certify public documents issued by governmental institutions. Since ICOES is a private entity, embassies may not directly legalize the certificate itself. However, the notarized document with ICOES’s declaration can usually be apostilled to authenticate its validity.

Important Considerations

  • Legalization and apostille requirements vary significantly by country and may change frequently.
  • No provider can guarantee success in all jurisdictions, but we strive to ensure our courses meet the standards required by most international authorities.

If you encounter any difficulties or have further questions during this process, feel free to reach out to our support team. While we cannot directly provide apostille or legalization services, we are here to support you in any way we can.
