If you find yourself facing the challenge of a failed module exam (a score of less than 55%), don't worry—there's a straightforward process for retaking and improving your performance. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you navigate through the retake procedure:
1. Identifying Failed Modules
Upon logging into your course overview page, you'll find a clear categorization of your modules into three categories:
- Failed Modules: Indicated by an exam percentage below 55%, these modules will display a red "Exams" button.
- Incomplete Modules: If you initiated an exam in a module but didn't complete it, the "Exams" button will appear yellow.
- Passed Modules: Successfully passed modules, with a grade exceeding 55%, will showcase a green "Exams" button.
You can also see what questions are failed/passed using the "See details" link on each module
In the question format used, the scoring is represented as follows:
- 1/1: The answer is correct, and there is one possible correct answer.
- 0/1: The answer is incorrect, and there is one possible correct answer.
- 1/3: One answer is correct, and there are three correct answers in total.
- 0/4: There are no correct answers, and there are four possible correct answers.
- 5/5: There are five correct answers, and there are five possible correct answers.
2. Reviewing Passed Exams
For modules where you've successfully passed the exam, a "Check Results" button will be available on each page. This allows you to revisit the questions and review your answers for a deeper understanding.
3. Resitting Failed Modules
In the case of a failed module (grade under 55%), the "Check Results" button will be replaced with a "Resit This Module" button on each page. The first resit for each module is complimentary and allows you to retake all failed questions.
However, if a second resit is needed, an additional fee will be charged to cover the cost of repeating the remaining failed questions.
4. Troubleshooting Missing Resit Button
If you cannot find the "Resit This Module" button on exam pages despite a failed module, it may indicate that there are unsaved pages within that module. Unsaved pages can be in either the study or exam section. To learn more about checking your progress and ensuring all pages are saved, refer to our guide on "Checking and Completing Your Course Progress: A Guide"
By following these steps, you can efficiently navigate the process of retaking a failed exam, ensuring a clear understanding of your performance and the necessary steps for improvement.
